Where do they come from? And what’s being done to protect them?

4Paws Puppies are  rescued puppies throughout southern Ontario on Six Nations Reserve. Every ticket purchased helps support the puppies you interact with in class. We do not support Breeders in our program. Puppies are brought into our program to also bring awareness to the need for adoptions. To make sure everyone including our puppy guest are safe and happy. They are also checked over by staff before every class for wellness checks making sure they are mentally and physically suited to attend class. We have a separate area for puppies to rest away from the busy class should they be too tired.

Where Our Dogs Come From (Six Nations Reserve)
The puppies and dogs in our care come from remote and under-resourced reserve communities. These are places where people care deeply about animals, but often don’t have consistent access to veterinary services, spay/neuter programs, fencing, or the resources needed to support growing dog populations.
Without intervention, dogs are often left to fend for themselves — facing extreme weather little to no shelter, food scarcity, traffic dangers, and other risks that no animal should endure. Our rescue steps in to provide a safer, more humane outcome.

We provide basic and emergency vet care. Needed surgeries, extended flea treatments, food, housing toys, training and microchipping. We have an open door policy to return a puppy or dog you can no longer care for.
Why Rescue Matters
Our work is rooted in prevention, compassion, and partnership — not blame.
By rescuing dogs early, providing medical care, and placing them in loving homes, we:
Prevent future suffering
Reduce population with spay and neuter programs.
Protect both animals and community members
Give each dog the chance to live a safe, healthy life
This approach saves lives — human and animal alike — and creates long-term change.

Respecting Communities
We recognize that these situations are complex. Many communities face systemic barriers that make animal care incredibly challenging. Our role is not to judge, but to support — working alongside local advocates to create safer outcomes for everyone.
Rescue is not about pointing fingers. It’s about stepping in when help is needed most.

Choosing Adoption
When you adopt from our organization, you’re doing more than welcoming a dog into your home. You’re becoming part of a larger solution — one rooted in empathy, education, and action.
Every adoption opens space for another life to be saved.

We do not force them to mingle and play if they want to sleep, they must sleep. If you love animals too, which we all do, we must not forget they are still babies. We want all to enjoy yoga including our 4Paws friends. Our Space is always thoroughly sanitized. We pride ourselves in making continuous efforts to establish connections with ethical shelters and rescuers.
